Recently, with an article about Arkhangelsk, I opened a new category in this blog: “Travel“. And today I want to continue the story about the places where I was this summer and we will talk about the city of Zelenogorsk.
Zelenogorsk is located in the Leningrad region, a couple of hours drive from Saint Petersburg (where I live), so getting there was not a problem. It was enough to buy a train ticket and sleep in it for a couple of hours. 🙂

Zelenogorsk is a very small city and its population is only 15 thousand people. Therefore, 1 day will be enough for you to explore its main attractions. So I with my girlfriend arrived in the city in the morning, and in the evening we returned to Saint Petersburg. And in this article I will try to tell you the main impressions that Zelenogorsk makes on the visitors and its features that I was able to notice in it.
The first thing that any tourist who comes to Zelenogorsk sees is the city railway station and a beautiful fountain with dolphins located opposite it.

In general, there are many different fountains in Zelenogorsk – this is one of the features of the city that caught my eye.
The city has one main street – Lenin Avenue, around which almost all the main sights of the city are located. We went along it.

It should be noted that the street is decorated with flower pots. There are a lot of flowers in the city, which immediately arouses the liking of tourists.
On the way, we saw a Kremlin-style playground, which seemed funny.

There is a lot of greenery in the city and in its very center there is Plodovy Square.

There are many apple trees growing in it, and if you wish, you can even pick a couple of apples and have a snack.

Also in the park there are many benches decorated with heroes of Russian fairy tales.
It’s interesting how houses in Zelenogorsk are combined with nature.
Thus, some residents of the city celebrate holidays (birthdays, for example) by arranging picnics right in their parks.

If you decide to walk along Lenin Avenue, then you definitely will not miss the unusual building with a stone in front of it – the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord.

Also along the main street there are many small sculptures that adorn the city: an ant monument, a love bench, a girl with a pike, a dog bench and a wish tree.
And also the inscription “I love Zelenogorsk”.

One of the most beautiful architectural structures in the city is the temple of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, which also has a very beautiful garden on its territory.
There is another place very close to the temple, which I advise you to visit, being in Zelenogorsk – this is the central park of culture and rest. It has a variety of activities for children, such as a ferris wheel and a dinosaur park.
There are also several sculptures in the central park of Zelenogorsk. For example, a monument to a fisherman, boots of an unnamed cottager (with pointers to different cities), a monument to Georgy Vitsin – a Russian actor.
The main alley of the park will lead the traveler straight to the city beach.

In good weather, many residents and guests of the city sunbathe and swim there. And right next to the beach is the hotel overlooking the Gulf of Finland.
To the left of the beach, behind a concrete fence, there is a small pier where local shipowners leave their boats and yachts.
And if you go along the beach further along the bay and cross a small river, you can find a less crowded, but more comfortable beach.

People who want to take a break from the crowds on the central beach get here, as well as fry barbecue or go windsurfing.
I will remember Zelenogorsk as a small cozy city, near Saint Petersburg, where you can always come if you want, for example, to sunbathe or swim.

Finally, I will share my Top 4 attractions that a tourist should see in Zelenogorsk.
